EU funds for Greek farmers should be prioritized, agriculture minister tells visiting EU commissioner

Minister of Agricultural Development & Food Lefteris Avgenakis on Tuesday discussed the damaging effect of Greece's recent wildfires and floods with visiting EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski.

In a statement, the Greek ministry noted that Avgenakis told the Commissioner that the European family should now demonstrate its reflexes, build a protective barrier against the climate crisis, and strengthen the European citizens' sense of trust in the institutions.

Avgenakis also mentioned that emergency European aid funds for Greek farmers should be set into motion the soonest possible, and invited Wojciechowski to visit regions in Thessaly, central Greece, to see the catastrophic results of the recent storm 'Daniel'.
