Look up tonight as the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak!!

The Perseid meteor shower is about to hit its peak, and even with a bright Moon, it’s still worth stepping outside for.

The Perseids are active from July 17 to August 24 and reach maximum overnight on August 11–12 (local time), when debris from Comet Swift–Tuttle produces fast, colorful meteors and the occasional fireball. Look anywhere across a wide, dark sky—while the meteors “radiate” from Perseus, they can streak through any constellation.

To watch: head out after midnight until dawn on August 12, when the radiant climbs high and your odds improve. Face away from the Moon (let a building or tree block it), lie back, and give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adapt—no telescopes or binoculars needed.

If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, you’ll have the best vantage; southern observers will see fewer but still catch the brightest streaks.
