Council of Europe evaluates anti-corruption progress in Greece
The Council of Europe Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) today published a report on Greece assessing progress made in implementing the recommendations issued to the country in the Fifth Round Evaluation Report in 2021 on preventing corruption and promoting integrity in central governments (top executive functions) and law enforcement agencies. (see Greek version of the report)
GRECO concludes that Greece has satisfactorily implemented none of the seventeen recommendations set out in the Fifth Round Evaluation Report. Six recommendations have been partly implemented and eleven have not been implemented.
GRECO notes that significant efforts will need to be made to achieve an adequate level of implementation of the recommendations over the next 18 months. In accordance with Rule 31 revised bis, paragraph 8.2, of its Rules of Procedure, GRECO calls on the head of the delegation of Greece to submit additional information with regard to the implementation of all recommendations by 30 September 2025.
